Format of Events
Regionals
- Singles and doubles will both be held.
- Cost is $20/pp fee, if registering prior to the posted deadline, for each Singles and Doubles.
- Cost is an additional $5, or $25/pp fee, if registering after the posted deadline, for each Singles and Doubles.
- Events consist of six rounds of Swissholio Rounders for both singles and doubles.
- Each round must be completed prior to the next round starting. First round, 1-0 records play, 0-1 records play. Second round, 2-0 records play, 1-1 records play, and 0-2 records play. And so on.
- Depending on timing, a blind draw will also be offered after singles and doubles.
- Season consists of 10 total Regionals.
- Players must compete in a minimum of 3 Regionals to be eligible for the Grand Poobah event in March 2025.
- Points will be awarded and accumulate throughout the season.
- Top 6 Regionals will count and determine seeding for the Grand Poobah.
- Payouts for Singles and Doubles:
- 15% of pre-registration fees will go towards the Grand Poobah Playoffs.
- 60% of pre-registration fees will be paid out at Regionals.
- Places paid is based on number of participants.
- Places determined by game record, then by total points scored, then point differential.
Grand Poobah
- Grand Poobah Event will be held April 12, 2025.
- Location is at Oakland Yard Athletics in Waterford Twp, Michigan.
- Two divisions, double-elimination tournament for both singles and doubles.
- Cost is $40/pp fee, if registering prior to the posted deadline, for each Singles and Doubles.
- Cost is an additional $5, or $45/pp fee, if registering after the posted deadline, for each Singles and Doubles.
- Event is a double-elimination tournament based on seeding from a players top 6 regionals.
Rules of Play
- No ACL/ACO pros or Elite players(if you played in a GLC event before becoming pro you can finish out the season)
- Regulation boards will be used in all tournaments.
- Any official bag may be used, such as those manufactured for the ACL and ACO. No corn bags or handmade bags will be allowed. A full set of the same bag must be used. No mixed bag sets.
- Scoring is a race to 21 with 1-point for on the board and 3-points in the hole, with cancellation scoring.
- During monthly tournaments, players will spin a bag or flip a coin for choice. Choice includes two of the following three choices:
- First throw
- Side of board
- Opponent against
- Grand Puba Event will use seeding from the monthly tournaments and includes all of the following:
- First throw
- Side of board
- Opponent against
- No more than two down-and-backs are allowed per game.
- Bags must be pitched underhand.
- Feet must remain behind the foul line until the bag lands at the opposite end.
- The player/team that scores will throw first in the next round.
- Throwing out of turn results in a dead bag.
- Bags may not be touched until all eight bags have been thrown and scored. Touching a bag results in the opposing team scoring 12 points and the offending team with a dead bag and tallying their score on the board. Score will be 12 minus the tallied score for the non-offending team.
- Players must throw within 20 seconds of the opponent's bag coming to rest.
- Players/teams are allowed two 2-minute time-outs per round.
- Raking the bags from under the board, is permitted and any bags that fall in the hole after the rake are counted as a cornhole.
- Boards may be moved back into position only between rounds.
